My New Loom!

I have a rigid heddle loom and have always wanted to get a 4-Harness Loom! When one of the ladies in my Ravelry group put up a link to this loom I decided I couldn't pass it up! It is a beautiful 1930's Structo Artcraft 4-Harness loom and I love it! It made it all the way from Pennsylvania safely on UPS even with a snowstorm going on! It came with weaving already on it and I haven't had a chance to play with it much yet! It is in beautiful shape and I cna't wait to warp it and start something on it! Oh what fun!

Oh my goodness....I have visions of handloomed shawls!! There was only ONE vendor at the Craftsmen Fair in Gatlinburg last year that was selling handloomed items..she had shawls that were over the top beautiful and were selling for $150 to $250 each and they were selling. ;0) Get busy girl..hehe :0)

It's gorgeous. I love it. Maybe someday I can learn to spin and weave. They are definitely on my list. I don't know where to begin. Maybe a good book or video. Any tips you would like to share with a newbie? What's the easiest way to start?

Ruth, I think you would love spinning and weaving! I will warn you it's incredibly addictive! I started on a drop spindle because it's much less expensive than a wheel. There are tons of videos on youtube for spinning and that is where I found videos that helped me figure out my wheel! I would check on craigslist in you area for a wheel or see if there are any guilds in your area! If you Google spinning guilds you can find a listing by interweave press and that's a good place to start to see if you have any in your area! I will e-mail you with some more info on getting started!!

Looks a lot like the one my mother has. I don't remember how many harnesses it has on it though. I will have to look next time I am over there. My mother still works on it now and then. It used to belong to my godmother. Perhaps I will get it next.

Gorgeous loom. I know of a woman who uses a loom. She created a lot of lovely outfits. You will get your chance to play with it more.
